Background
It is a relatively simple molecule that was discovered and developed in the 1950s and 1960s at Boots Pure Drug in Nottingham, UK (now Boots UK in Beeston). The initial British patent on ibuprofen and a long list of similar compounds was awarded to John Nicholson and Stewart Adams of Boots in 1964.

Indication and application

Ibuprofen is widely used to reduce minor aches and pains as well as to reduce fever and manage dysmenorrhea. It is very commonly used for the relief of acute indications such as fever and tension headaches. It is also used to manage mild to moderate pain and moderate to severe pain as an adjunct to opioid analgesics.
