Background
Nystatin is used to treat fungal infections of the inside of the mouth and lining of the stomach and intestines. It works by stopping the growth of fungi that cause infection.

Binds sterols in fungal cell membrane, altering permeability and thus causing cellular contents to leak

Nystatin may cause allergic reactions, which can be serious. Stop taking nystatin and get help right away if you have any of the following symptoms of a serious allergic reaction. Irritation and Other Skin Reactions. Nystatin may cause irritation and other skin reactions, such as redness, swelling, or itching.
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Store in the original package to protect against moisture and direct light.
Oral suspension: 400,000-600,000 units PO q6hr; swish in mouth several minutes and then swallow. Retain suspension in mouth as long as possible before swallowing.
